Name your pet this way

Naming a pet is far too much similar to naming your own child. Some people think what is in a name? But here the most important thing we should always consider it’s the name that stays throughout life. One cannot escape from it. And the whole responsibility lies on the pet owner. Because you are no more the owner of your pet, you become the pooch parent the day you bring the little pup home.

Here are simple tips you should consider in mind before you name your furry friend.

  1. Personality :

The most important thing to consider. Because it is the personality that defines who we are? And the same is with the dog as well. Every species has their own specific character. Observe your dog closely and try to figure out. Let me give you a hint, there are basically 5 personality traits in which you can constrain your dog’s ultimate character. Check whether your dog falls in any of these:-

  • Independent
  • Confident
  • Happy – go –lucky
  • Shy
  • Adaptable
  1. Appearance :

Examining your pooch is really important. How does it exactly look like eg; color, physique, style of walk etc. Does it remind you of anyone like any Disney cartoon or any famous icon? You can use the name like smoky if he is dark.

  1. Time Flies :

The prime focus while naming your pooch must be on the fact that like we, your pooch will also grow with time. So avoid giving names like a baby, puppy. Ignore the skinny appearance of your dog if he has. Because with time some physical appearances do change. Also, try not to give confusing names like Ro can be confused with Go or No.

  1. Common or unique :

What kind of name you want to call your pooch with. You want it simple or want to give a unique name tag. Common names like rocky, Jimmy, tom are very in. But if you give a name which is not so similar, it will definitely give your pooch a story welcome everywhere.

  1. Involve your Family :

It is not only you who is going to stay with the pet all alone, your family, kids, friends, relatives all will be in some space will interact with the pooch. So it would be beneficial for you to give them a say. Also, it will give you more and more options that might have skipped from your mind or you might have ignored some cool feature of your pet. Make sure to tell them what exactly you are expecting while naming the pet ie; naming guidelines.

  1. Name Book :

Getting a book will undoubtedly help you, as you are working on the name and must have shortlisted some for sure. And might not be interested in buying a book reading all over. But who knows you might get some interesting names? Check it out.

  1. Inspiration :

If you are inspired by someone it can be either your favorite cartoon character ( we always have one), any actor, superhero, pop icon. You can definitely use it. It can be a good fit. It is advised to use the different sources of inspiration you have in your life.

  1. Avoid long names :

Always keep the name simple and easy to pronounce. So that a kid can also call your pooch without ruining the name.. you will not like it for sure, if it happens. A long name could be difficult for the dog to get adapted with and also it might be embarrassing or tiring to call it outside your house like in a mall, park.

  1. Create a list :

Your list should be exceptional. Just strike off the name which is too common or difficult to pronounce and also those are meaningless. The name should always be respectable and give a smile on the face of surrounding people. Once more sit down with your family and friends once have already shortlisted the names to come to a conclusion and a brighter side. Sometimes one meeting is not enough to finish the work.

  1. Little compromise :

It might happen that the names you have selected will easily go with all the known people. Let them also make a final choice. A Little compromise is not wrong if it is giving a fruitful result.

  1. Get the name asap :

The whole process is a little long, but it is forcefully advised or necessity would be the perfect word to use here. Naming your pooch in the first two weeks will help the new member easy to adjust and adapt the name. The same will respond fast. He’ll learn to come , go, sit all the common commands easily. Eventually, learn to respond.

Choosing a name might be little time taking but don’t be lazy or irritated. Take everyone’s suggestions, strike off the unwanted stuff that does not match your expectations. Choose a name wisely and calmly. Believe it or not, at the end, it’s you who has to call the name, and your pooch who has to stay with it your whole life.

So give a name that enlightens the face of every one of those who hear it, that gives a smile and joy on your face whether you call your furry, and ultimately a name when your furry hears it just pops up to you running wagging the tail.

Because it’s everything in the name.
